Phu Quoc is a little island off the coast of Vietnam. Well, it's really more off the coast of Cambodia, but it belongs to Vietnam (something that Cambodians are apparently a little bitter about). We read about it online months before we left and it looked like the perfect tropical paradise. It did not fail to live up to expectations. There's one small town, a few fishing villages, and beautiful resorts blanketing the coast. Every thing is fairly spread out and there's more areas left undeveloped than developed (for now), so we decided to rent motorbikes for a few days so we could explore the island. There's nothing better than the freedom having your own transportation affords you, especially transportation as fun as a motorbike. We spent two days riding and covered most of the island.
Ong Lang Beach
We stopped at a fishing village called Ham Ninh for some iced coffee and photos
Selling the mornings catch
We stumbled across a sign in the middle of the island for a wild boar farm. We weren't sure if it was supposed to be a tourist attraction or not but we walked up and said hello to the lady outside doing laundry. She didn't speak any english but smiled and opened up the gate to let us in. She let us walk around with the boars and even through a huge bag of veggies in so we could watch them eat, which was highly entertaining. We tried to offer her some money when we were done, but she just smiled again and shook her head, and we were on our way.
We passed through another fishing village along a river that had gobs of boats in it and some very cute kids......
Posing.....
Bai Sao Beach
Selling ice cream....
This guy walks around with a digital camera and a bettery powered printer and you can get a photo of yourself in less than two minutes. He was surprisingly camera shy considering his occupation.
It's nice to know that we're not the only ones who love to take jumping pictures. But really, this girl needs to work on her jumping skills.
After a long day riding it was nice to come back for a swim and to lounge at our resort....
take in the sunset.....
and then have some dinner and drinks on the beach..
Definitely the tropical paradise we were looking for.
